The Principles of Love and Disdain
The principles of love and disdain,
The ritual of procreation,
The grunt and gasping hunt for ever-lasting
release from pain,
The infant god of annihilation.
The titillation of all that we abhor,
The fulfillment of our worst expectations,
The internal blight that sends the knife
deeper to the core,
The prime directive left to our replacements.
The lazy punch-drunk haze of pheromones,
The crazy dumb-luck kiss beneath the stars,
The way the planets align and manage
to bring the moment home,
The weightlessness that infiltrates our hearts.
The principles of love and disdain,
The helical dream of future's past,
The random sequence that reason
cannot explain,
The fruitful purpose that surfaces at last.
